Dr. Meyer
joined Northern Rockies Neurosurgeons in September, 2005. He received
his Doctor of Medicine degree from
the University of Montpellier Medical School in France in 1982. He
then completed an Internship in General Surgery at the University of
Texas Southwestern Medical School, followed by a Residency and Fellowship
in Neurological Surgery there. Dr. Meyer obtained board certification
from the American Board of Neurosurgical Surgery in 1995.
Dr. Meyer's neurosurgical training included extensive exposure to vascular neurosurgical
pathology and trauma. Prior to joining Northern Rockies Neurosurgeons, he developed a
successful general neurosurgical practice in the Dallas area where he served as Vice
Chairman of Surgery at Harris Methodist HEB Hospital. There he specialized in minimally
invasive spine surgery, aneurysm surgery and image-guided stereotactic
surgery for brain
tumors.
Along with fellow NRN
neurosurgeons, Dr. Michael Copeland and Dr.
Robert Replogle, Dr. Meyer
is the only neurosurgeon at St. Vincent
Healthcare in Billings, MT
to perform cerebral aneurysm
surgeries, and he's one of the few neurosurgeons in Montana (Dr. Copeland being another) to perform artificial disc replacement surgeries.
In addition to his
neurosurgical work at St. Vincent Healthcare, Dr. Meyer
serves as the only visiting neurosurgeon in Sidney
and Bozeman, MT and also conducts an outreach clinic in Glasgow,
MT. His presence there
for consultations brings much-needed knowledge and experience to those
with brain and spine disorders in the northeast Montana region.
